The files COPYING and PATENTS contain the official licensing terms for this software. Version 0.2 of QStream was the first public release. QStream replaces its predecessor, the Quasar Video Pipeline Software. The licensing terms for QStream are inherited from the Quasar Video Pipeline. These terms are summarized as follows.

Some components of this software implement technology for which patents have been filed by OHSU. Commercial (non-GPL) applications of these technologies are required to obtain a license through the OHSU technology transfer office. The GPL version of the software can be distributed under royalty free terms, in order to promote academic research using the software. The Priority-Progress Streaming Patents License (see the PATENTS ) is closely derived from the RTLinux Patent license, which in turn has been approved by the FSF as being fully compliant with the GPL.

Again, the above is a summary, for the definitive terms, please read the COPYING and PATENTS files for complete details and contact information for the OHSU technology transfer office.
